Pterodactyls (Pterosauria), also known as pterosaurs, are a family of diverse non-avian flying reptiles that first evolved in the Late Triassic alongside the dinosaurs. Pterosaurs are not dinosaurs nor birds, despite how popular media would say, but they evolved from a very similar ancestors to dinosaurs.
